I was wondering what might help

What might help my friends who are caregivers?
First, let’s travel back to when I was lost in this new role as a caregiver.
“It’s a shell game!” Exasperation washed over me as I discovered that what I thought I understood about Medicaid and Medicare was now obsolete. I had worked to get Momma signed up for all the care and help she was entitled to as a retiree from years of service as a nurse and a deputy sheriff. It was January of the new year, and I felt I had a better grasp of what was offered to help me help her.
I was wrong. I was naive about the system and the ever-changing benefits. What was available the previous year was not available in this new year. It felt like a sadistic shell game in which some unknown entity derived pleasure from my frustration.
I threw up my hands, stomped down the hallway, complained to my husband, and went for a walk to calm down. During my walk, I prayed for God to show me the next step. Then, waited.
God works on behalf of His children. In fact, He’s very specific in Scripture about the cause of widows and orphans. Momma was a widow. More times than I can remember, out of context, God came through directing me toward the right link or the right person who could offer guidance. It became so commonplace for things to “just work out” that I slowly learned not to worry when it looked like I was at a dead end. I would do all I could. Pray and wait.
It seemed like most prayers would be answered in a two-week cycle. Weird, right?
Whether you’re a part-time or full-time caregiver, the reward is knowing you’ve done your best to provide the best care. I’ve put together a small list of tips that may be helpful to you, available on the blog. Click: Care Tips for Caregivers.
Father, I pray for my friend who is giving it all to care for their loved one. We know you are a good father who takes care of your kids as individuals. This applies to our loved ones and to us as caregivers. I pray for wisdom and guidance as they seek that next step. The Bible encourages us to ask for what we need, and it will be supplied. For this, I agree in prayer for them. In Your son’s name, Amen.
“If you abide in Me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7 ESV).
